It is important to store medicines in a specific place in our homes (in a box, for example), out of reach of children, and always in their original packaging, together with the patient information leaflet. This not only helps us to keep things better organised, but also makes it easier to regularly sort out medicines that are no longer needed or have passed their expiry date.

Once this sorting process has been carried out, the medicines to be disposed of should be taken to the pharmacy, along with any materials used in their packaging and wrapping – empty cardboard boxes, patient information leaflets, bottles, blister packs, ampoules, tubes, etc. – even if they contain traces of medicine.

In addition, you must also dispose of any accessories used to facilitate the administration of medicines – spoons, cups, dosing syringes, droppers, cannulas, etc. However, needles or syringes, thermometers, electrical or electronic devices, gauze, surgical equipment and X-rays must not be placed in the VALORMED containers.
