How did this partnership come about?
Correia Rosa pharmacies have joined the “Cidade dos Afetos” project, which is based on activities in schools at all levels of education and is guided by the motto “A School of Affection, A School of Success”. This project aims to mobilise the entire school community and local partners to develop activities with an emphasis on emotional well-being, thereby seeking to raise awareness amongst our children and teenagers of a future based on wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle.
We are therefore committed to organising and taking part in initiatives and activities that foster a sense of connection between citizens, institutions and the city as a whole.
It is in this context that our partnership with Refood Caldas da Rainha has come about.
REFOOD’s mission is to recover food, feed people and involve the whole local community, working together to create a more sustainable, fair and caring society. It is an independent, sustainable, 100% volunteer-run, democratic movement, led by citizens and organised within local communities. It is dedicated to recovering food in good condition and feeding people in need by involving the local community.
What do I need to know?
THE REFOOD MOVEMENT RECOVERS TONNES OF GOOD FOOD TO CUT WASTE AND FEED PEOPLE IN NEED.
How? By building a human bridge between surplus and need. To this end, we invite the entire local community to be part of a 100% volunteer-led movement that transforms not only waste into nourishment, but also the lives of everyone involved, within a truly circular and solidarity-based economy – driven by goodwill.
The REFOOD Movement mobilises the community’s resources and its sense of social and environmental responsibility to co-create a fairer, more caring and sustainable society.
For several years, staff from the Rosa, Caldense and Santa Catarina pharmacy teams worked as volunteers during working hours, helping to prepare meals for delivery to beneficiaries and collecting food using the company car. We now make a quarterly donation to help cover the fixed costs involved in running Refood Caldas da Rainha.
Yes, since 12 March 2025, all active volunteers at Refood Caldas da Rainha have:
- 10% off everything except MSRM, nappies and food,
- 30% off selected pharmaceutical services;
- 1 free delivery per week to the Refood Caldas da Rainha head office. 50% discount on additional deliveries.
Refood is supported by donations of time, goods and money. Volunteers donate their most precious asset – their time – whilst Refood Friends contribute to our work in other ways.
Food Source Partners donate their surplus food, whilst other partners donate non-food items.
Supporting Partners – whether individuals, organisations, companies or social investors – are invited to donate whatever financial support they choose, for the good of the community now and in the future.
