Mónica Marciano

Mónica Marciano is a pharmacist at Farmácia Rosa.

She’s the one with the best singing voice in the group and does a bit of everything, always in good spirits!

“My name is Mónica Marciano. I was born in Canada, a country which is said to be where people are the friendliest and most helpful. I finished primary school there and went on to do secondary school and university in Portugal.

It was my love of chemistry and of ‘helping others’ that led me to become a pharmacist (and a little nudge from my dad, of course).
I’m a mum to a little girl (as she puts it: ‘my greatest love’), I’m a wife, I’m a friend, I’m a colleague…
I’m passionate about nature, walks in the fresh air and dinners with friends.
Stubborn, cheerful and a people person.’

If you could solve one problem in the world, which one would you choose and why?

Physical and emotional abuse. Witnessing injustice has always affected me deeply. I really can’t stand it, and I feel compelled to intervene when it happens in my presence. Since becoming a mother, this ‘protective’ instinct towards my loved ones has grown even stronger.

A song that inspires you?

A book that made a lasting impression on you?

The first Harry Potter book (because it was the first ‘big’ book I read and it taught me to let my imagination run wild).

Has any experience in a pharmacy setting helped you become a better professional?

Learning about my customers’ life stories makes me a more empathetic pharmacist, which I believe is one of the greatest virtues when it comes to serving the public.

Has there been an experience in your life that has left a lasting impression on you?

The birth of my daughter.
